dr-antony-bedggoodDr Bedggood is a subspecialty trained Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismus Surgeon, an experienced Cataract surgeon, and has training and a special interest in the treatment of retinal diseases such as Age-related Macular Degeneration (ARMD).

  • Graduated Otago School of Medicine 1996 & completed his training as an Eye Specialist in 2005.
  • Operated as an Ophthalmologist in Christchurch Hospital before undertaking 12 months sub-specialty training in Paediatric Ophthalmology at the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane, Australia.

He offers state-of-the art small-incision Cataract surgery, management of a range of childhood eye problems, and a very high standard of Strabismus surgery all as day cases at the Oxford Clinic Hospital in central Christchurch.

Dr Bedggood is experienced in diagnosing and treating a broad range of common eye conditions such as:

Dr Bedggood currently works as an Ophthalmologist in Christchurch, at the Fendalton Eye Clinic and also at the  Children's Specialist Centre on Colombo Street. He is employed as an Ophthalmologist by the Southland District Health Board, treating children and adults, undertaking a range of surgery including that for Glaucoma, Cataract, Strabismus, eyelid problems, and procedures for the treatment of macular degeneration (Intra-vitreal injection) and diabetes (retinal laser surgery) among others.
