Fendalton Eye Clinic offers FREE assessments in Christchurch as well as other locations in the South Island and Wellington.
In Christchurch we offer Free assessments at Fendalton Eye Clinic to determine your suitability for LASIK surgery. This is a no obligation consultation at Fendalton Eye Clinic with one of our optometrists or orthoptists.
At the assessment we check how your eyes focus, measure the thickness (pachymetry) of the cornea and map the shape of the front surface of the cornea (corneal topography). This is the most sensitive test for detecting abnormal shapes of the cornea. Your cornea must be normal to safely have excimer laser surgery.
The corneal topography unit that we use at Fendalton Eye Clinic is the ORBSCAN II. This is the most sensitive and sophisticated corneal topography unit currently available. It provides us with information not only about the front surface of the cornea but also the back surface of the cornea and information about the thickness of the cornea.
As it gives us more information than other corneal topography units it enables us to detect subtle distortions or abnormalities in the cornea that would make you unsuitable for corrective laser eye surgery.
